We’ve just celebrated our third anniversary, having moved here in November 2014, after struggling to find a space that could be converted into a suitable treatment room.

After discovering that my landlord was looking to rent part of his shop as an annexe, we took a rectangle and created a room-within-a-room to provide a waiting area, loo and treatment room. It’s deceptively large and bright with a huge skylight that allows natural light to pour in.

We couldn’t tile the wonky walls so went for some really bold. The wallpaper in the treatment room has a Chinoiserie feel to it and the waiting area has 50s-style patterns, which have been admired a lot. Two of our clients have even bought the same paper for their homes!

There are a few promotional posters, but you’ll find a lot of our own pictures and photos. That’s the beauty of having your own shop: you can do what you want with it and clients feel as if they are part of your family. And men don’t feel alienated in our clinic. It’s definitely gender neutral!

Obviously, we have to have everything in place to comply with licensing for treatments, but it’s not all lavender and glitter like nail salons or chic monochrome. We had to work with the wonky walls first! My clients would say it’s welcoming and friendly and rather quirky.

We’re tucked away. That’s really important for privacy. I know my clients like that. Very private and discreet. At the end of a long week, it’s almost silent outside late on a Friday night. Sometimes it’s so cosy, clients don’t want to go home.

You can find us at 23 Nicholas Street,  in the older part of Diss known as The Heritage Triangle. We’re pretty special up here because of the beautiful refurbishment that’s just taken place in this part of town, and we’re surrounded by arts and crafts shops, delis and cafés. We’re also just across from the Corn Hall, so have a great arts venue on our doorstep.
