WHAT IS A PEEL?
Chemical peeling is a cosmetic procedure based on the application of an enzyme or chemical exfoliant to the skin. The aim is to induce controlled destruction of the epidermis to remove skin imperfections, such as age spots, and to improve skin texture. It’s a relatively simple treatment which can give fabulous results radically improving acne scarring, photo-damage and hyper-pigmentation.
DESCRIBE THE TREATMENT
Many clients are nervous when a peel is mentioned because they think it’s going to involve lots of redness and downtime, hiding away from their friends and family. Not so! Peels can be separated into three different types:
- Deep Peels
Peels are based on how deeply they are needed to penetrate the skin. This is determined by:
- The type of or combination of acids.
- The concentration of the agents in the peel.
- The pH (how acidic it is) of the solution.
- The number of coats applied.
- And how long it stays on the skin.
Sometimes a light peel is all that’s needed to brighten and refresh the skin. The right peel for you will be discussed at your consultation.
